Grano and Cloud2 Enhance EMMi DAM System with AWS-Powered AI Tagging
Grano’s EMMi platform is Finland’s leading digital asset management (DAM) solution, trusted by over 250 brands and around 200 companies nationwide. EMMi simplifies digital asset management, centralizing all digital assets, facilitating seamless workflows, and providing powerful integrations and metadata handling capabilities.
Recognizing the need to elevate user experience and improve asset tagging accuracy, Grano partnered with Cloud2, an AWS Premier Partner known for leveraging advanced cloud technologies, to enhance EMMi using Generative AI.
A Need for Improved Asset Tagging and Accessibility
EMMi’s existing tagging process relied primarily on manual input and basic automation, which presented challenges such as inconsistent tagging and inefficiency. Additionally, there was a need to automatically generate accurate alternative texts (alt-text) to ensure accessibility compliance, improving the user experience for everyone interacting with digital assets.
Automating Tagging and Alt-text Generation
Cloud2’s task was twofold:
Develop an automated, accurate AI-driven tagging system.
Implement a solution to automatically generate meaningful alt-text for all uploaded images directly within the EMMi DAM system.
These enhancements aimed to streamline EMMi’s workflow, significantly reduce manual input, and improve overall content accessibility.
AWS Bedrock and Nova Models at Work
Cloud2 chose AWS Bedrock and Nova models for their robust performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Utilizing an event-driven architecture hosted on AWS, Cloud2 delivered a scalable AI solution that seamlessly integrates with EMMi’s existing workflows:
Upon uploading images into EMMi, the event-driven process initiates automatically.
AWS Lambda functions trigger a call to AWS Bedrock’s Nova models, analyzing image content and generating semantic tags and descriptive alt-text.
These metadata enhancements are written directly back into EMMi without user intervention.
Enhanced User Experience and Greater Accessibility
The solution transformed EMMi’s capabilities significantly. Users no longer need to manually tag images, eliminating human error and saving substantial time. The accuracy of metadata has markedly improved, increasing asset discoverability. Automatic alt-text generation has improved content accessibility for all users, further solidifying EMMi’s leading position in the Finnish DAM market.
This collaboration showcases the strength of Grano’s DAM expertise combined with Cloud2’s AWS competencies, highlighting the powerful capabilities of AWS AI technologies.
