The Challenge

Reslink's SaaS platform ran on Google Cloud with a long-standing provider that had become hard to reach, and getting issues resolved took more effort than it should. Reslink wanted a partner that would answer, keep the environment under watch around the clock and help it move to a more modern architecture.

Our Solution

Cloud2 took the existing environment under control and monitoring, built a Google Cloud landing zone as code, and designed a modernisation path to containerised services on Cloud Run.

Results

Monitoring that works

The production environment is now monitored around the clock, and Cloud2 responds when something breaks.

A foundation as code

The new Google Cloud environment is built with Terraform, ready for the modernised platform.

A clear path forward

The new architecture is being built alongside the current one, so the move can happen without disrupting Reslink's customers.

Reslink is a Finnish SaaS company founded in 2005. Its Reslink Platform is a field service management solution for mobile workforces in sectors such as cleaning, security, healthcare and real estate. The platform has more than 10,000 users in over ten countries, and Reslink has offices in Finland and the UK.

Looking for a partner that answers

Reslink had worked with the same cloud provider for many years. Over time, getting hold of the right people had become difficult, and resolving issues took longer than a business-critical platform can afford.

Towards the end of 2025, Reslink decided to ask a few providers for proposals. The discussions with Cloud2 moved quickly, the contracts were agreed, and the work started in January 2026. The first goal was to keep Reslink’s environment under watch around the clock, so that problems are caught before they reach Reslink’s customers.

Two tracks: take control, then modernise

The work runs on two tracks.

The first is to take the existing environment under control. Cloud2 set up a Google Cloud landing zone with the organisation’s basic structure in place, connected it to the existing environment and put working monitoring on top. While reviewing the old virtual machine, the team found that a monitoring agent had been installed years earlier but never fully configured. It had never reported anything. Now Cloud2 gets an alert before something breaks.

The second track is modernisation. Reslink’s platform was built on an architecture from an earlier stage of the company, and it does not yet make full use of what Google Cloud can offer.

Cloud2 designed a new architecture to change that. The application will be containerised and run on Cloud Run, with each customer’s workload separated into its own service. Cloud2 builds the infrastructure as code with Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines will handle deployments. Reslink’s own developers adapt the application so that it can run in containers.

The new environment is being built alongside the current one. The switch is planned so that Reslink’s customers notice as little as possible.

Some of the change is already visible. Reslink has a partner it can reach, and a production environment that is actually monitored.

“The old monitoring was a smoke detector without a battery. Now it beeps. Sometimes a bit too eagerly, but we’re tuning that.”

Ahti Kaisalmi, Account Manager, Cloud2

Once the modernisation is complete, Reslink will run on a more reliable infrastructure that is easier to maintain. Running each customer in its own service makes the platform more resilient, because an issue in one place stays contained. With CI/CD pipelines in place, Reslink’s developers can ship changes faster. The team also expects the new model to cost less to run, since services do not need to be on all the time.

“When the platform has problems, so do our customers’ field teams. Now someone sees the problem before it occurs.”

Tuukka Nisso, CTO, Reslink

For SaaS companies considering modernisation

Asked what he would say to a company still wondering whether it dares to modernise its old systems, Cloud Architect Teemu Mäkelä turned the question around: can you afford not to?

“If your business runs on those systems, leaving them as they are is the bigger risk. Modernising is how you stay competitive in the years ahead.”

Teemu Mäkelä, Cloud Architect, Cloud2

For SaaS companies whose product runs on an architecture from an earlier era, Reslink’s path shows a practical way forward. Get the current environment under control first, then build the modern platform alongside it, without putting customers at risk along the way.
