Challenge

Lappset's IT infrastructure was running on traditional data center servers that had served the company well but no longer matched the demands of a distributed international operation. With subsidiaries in seven countries, production facilities in three locations, and 400 employees working across multiple time zones, the company needed IT infrastructure that could keep pace.

The existing setup created practical challenges. A data center tied to one location made it harder to support teams and production sites spread across different regions. Managing physical servers required internal resources that could be better spent elsewhere. And as the company continued expanding, the gap between what the infrastructure could do and what the business needed was only going to widen.

Finding the right partner mattered. Lappset wanted someone who understood that moving to the cloud is more than lifting servers from one place to another. The governance model, security practices, and ongoing management had to be right from the start.

“Cloud expertise is not something we wanted to build entirely in-house. Through the ongoing Managed Cloud service, we gain continuous oversight and development without diverting focus from supporting our production and subsidiaries.”

Juho Luukko, Head of ICT, Lappset

Solution

Cloud2 began the partnership by building a solid foundation through its Cloud Governance as a Service. Before any servers were moved, the team worked with Lappset to establish a cloud governance framework and Azure landing zones tailored to the company's needs. This groundwork defined how the cloud environment would be structured, secured, and managed going forward.

With the governance model and landing zones in place, the actual migration could proceed efficiently. Lappset's servers were moved from the data center to Azure following Cloud2's proven migration methodology. The careful preparation paid off: the technical migration was straightforward because the foundation had been built correctly.

The partnership continues beyond migration. Cloud2 maintains both the governance framework and the landing zones as part of the ongoing Cloud Governance as a Service agreement. Lappset's Azure environment is now managed through Cloud2's Managed Cloud service, providing continuous monitoring, maintenance, and support.

Benefits

Lappset now operates on a cloud platform that matches the reality of running a business across multiple countries and time zones. Teams in different regions work from the same infrastructure without the limitations of a single physical data center.

The governance foundation ensures that the cloud environment stays organized and secure as it evolves. New workloads follow established patterns and policies, preventing the kind of sprawl that makes cloud environments difficult to manage over time.

By moving infrastructure management to Cloud2, Lappset's IT team can focus on supporting production facilities and subsidiaries rather than maintaining servers. The partnership gives Lappset access to cloud expertise without building that capability entirely in-house.

The shift to Azure also improves resilience for a company whose products are installed in public spaces in over 60 countries. Systems are no longer tied to one physical location, providing better continuity for both internal operations and the services that support customers worldwide.

“At Cloud2, our goal is to make complex cloud migrations feel like "business as usual." For a global company like Lappset, the transition to Azure needed to be invisible to their daily operations but transformative for their long-term growth. We are proud to provide a scalable foundation that prioritizes security and resilience, allowing their team to stop worrying about servers and start focusing on their global mission.”
