challenge

In line with Glaston's chosen Cloud First strategy, the goal of getting rid of its own data centers and making the most of the possibilities offered by public cloud caused major changes in both the infrastructure and the traditional way of working. Cloud2 has supported Glaston's cloud transformation along this path.

The first joint steps were taken in migrating 3D workloads to Azure utilizing Citrix Cloud. At the same time, the versions of the applications were also changed, which brought its own additional spice to the project. This successful project increased Glaston's confidence in Cloud2's professionalism.

With the migration to the cloud, which was previously done by a lift&shift model, created a lot of development and optimization tasks. When Glaston acquired a company called Bystronic, identity management (IAM) needs were created for Bystronic's users. These needs were met with the capabilities brought by Cloud2's proposed technology and managed service.

solution

With Glaston's strong and innovative cloud vision, we started to build on the cloud first model one piece at a time. In the Citrix project, Glaston's clients, internal and external end users, needed to be close by to the applications, some of which had already been exported to the Azure cloud. Citrix Cloud enables clients to run hybrid workloads in Azure and when necessary keep ie. latency critical databases at on-premise datacenters.

After a successful first project, Cloud2 was the clear choice to provide Glaston Citrix environment monitoring and management services (24/7). Citrix Cloud as a solution is secure in itself, in addition to this, performance and security analytics were built separately on top of it, which can be used to easily analyze accessibility performance and monitor information security.

The implementation of the Azure environment is made global. The process as a whole has been implemented with the idea of Lift and Shift with Optimize, which is an agile way to implement clouding. Clouding takes place as a large entity, so to speak, but is optimized piece by piece. It can be found in Asia, Europe and some in the United States. The network is implemented with an SD-WAN network. The modern solution offers a more cost-effective, flexible and easy-to-manage network for Glaston. Glaston relies on Cloud2's Azure monitoring and management services, which are produced 24/7.

Glaston implemented one authentication technique. This makes it easier for the employee, and with a single identification, the employee can access all the necessary systems. Cloud2 offers identity management as a service to Glaston.

benefits

A clear example of the benefits of the cloud has been the more flexible integration of IT systems in connection with acquisitions. It is easier to scale and expand the cloud as the business grows. Cloud2 and Glaston's seamless cooperation, unique service management model and agile rebellious way of working enable Glaston to focus on its own core business.

"Cloud2 has been perceived as a flexible and agile partner. Tasks are done quickly, new technologies and possibilities are presented pro-actively and can be implemented on a fast schedule. Responsibilities are clear and the customer service works as it should. Cloud2 has a fanatical support service!"

— Kimmo Koivisto, Glaston
