Challenge

Hyria was using an outdated on-premise data centre. The organisation wanted to move to a fully cloud-based infrastructure to achieve automation, cost savings and security. Hyria's data centre estate was about to be demolished in its entirety, so modernising the infrastructure was a logical step to improve Hyria's operational efficiency.

The tight schedule brought its own challenges to the process. Hyria needed an experienced partner who could reliably complete the cloud migration in just three months before the property was demolished. Cloud2 was selected as Hyria's cloud partner because of its extensive migration experience and expertise.
 

Solution

Cloud2 initiated a multi-level cloud migration of Hyria's on-premise infrastructure with a comprehensive plan to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption to Hyria's operations. Data from the Movere Assessment phase showed Microsoft Azure to be a viable choice for Hyria's current and future workloads. Initially, Cloud2 created a Cloud Governance cloud management model and a Landing Zone that included access management, cloud networking and cost control. 

The optimal migration of servers to Azure was ensured in joint workshops between Cloud2 and Hyria. The workshops looked at Hyria's current workloads as well as new cloud native components to be introduced during the migration. Cloud2 performed the server migration using materials from the workshops. The legacy data center was transformed into a fully automated, cloud-based Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code. 

Cloud2 completed the migration process within a pre-defined challenging timeframe in a cost-effective and secure manner. The success was supported by Cloud2's extensive migration experience, proven processes and modern expertise in Azure Infra & Data Modernization, as well as Hyrias' extensive background knowledge and active collaboration throughout the project.

The server migration provides Hyria with efficient infrastructure automation solutions, cost savings and improved security, among other benefits. The infrastructure migrated to Azure raised the educational capabilities of the institution to a new level, enabling Hyria to grow and develop flexibly well into the future. 

The partnership is ongoing, and Cloud2 has made various optimizations to the Hyria cloud even after the migration. Hyria has access to Cloud2's Managed Cloud service, which allows Cloud2 to monitor and manage all of Hyria's cloud services.
